Another
thing that you can do with a Capo in the studio: Let’s say that the song your
recording was written in G. It’s a ballad. The producer gives you the nod to improvise
an 8 bar part. You do something in G. The producer doesn’t like it and asks you
to do something else. Take your Capo and put it on the 7th fret. Now play something
in the C chord shape. A whole world of colors and tonal characteristics will open
up to you by this simple paradigm shift.
