Guitar Tip: Sound Like Dimebag Darrel

Guitar Rigs of the Gods, Part 1. Dimebag Darrel is a Heavy Metal shredder who makes no apologies for his over-the-top solid state distortion sound. First: His sound begins with a Washburn “V” guitar, loaded with 2 L500XL Humbuckers. Then, he runs into a Digitech Whammy pedal, followed by a Dunlop CryBaby. (Note: both pedals are never on at the same time.) Then, he runs into a series of three stomp-boxes, a Boss PS-3 (pitch shifter), a Boss DS-2, and an MXR Graphic EQ (sat in a “V” shape. From there, he runs into a rack mounted system, containing a Furman PQ-3 (parametric EQ), an MXR Flanger/Doubler, and finally, a Rocktron Guitar Silencer (noise gate). His rig terminates with a Random Century 200, on which the gain is rarely set to anything but 10. Argh! Metal…Good.
