Guitar Tip: Use An Iso Cab To Control Your Live Volume

For guitar players who gig in a band with a good PA, but are always being criticized for being too loud, I have one word for you: Iso-Cabs. An Iso-Cab is a speaker enclosure that you will have to build (unless there is someone out there making them that I’m unaware of) that is, quite literally, a box with a speaker in it with no holes to allow the sound to escape. Instead of a hole, port, or any other type of aperture, there is a Mic (usually a Shure SM-57) hardwired to an XLR output jack on the side of the Iso-Cab. Connect this Jack to the board of your PA, bleed a bit into the monitors, and there you have it. Your volume issues are over.
