Guitar Tip: Jimi Hendrix Sound - The Pedals

Guitar Rigs of the Gods, Part 2(a). As I promised you, here’s the tip on Jimi Hendrix’s pedals. Bear in mind that some of these effects units are no longer manufactured, and consequently are somewhat difficult to find. That being said, I promise you a Tip in the future about pedals that are still being manufactured that will give you a completely close approximation of his original effects. First, Jimi went into either a CryBaby (the original, not the Dunlop) or a Vox Wah. From there, he went into a fuzz-box, either an Axis Fuzz or Mayer Fuzz-Face. From there, he went into a Uni-vibe and a Mayer Octavia. He ended his signal by going into a Marshall 200 watt amp equipped with 6550 power tubes, as opposed to the traditional EL34s.
