Guitar Tip: Semi Hollow Body Guitars

Semi-Hollow body guitars have more natural sustain than the Hollow body guitars. This is because there is a large block of wood running down the center of the guitar’s body, which the bridge is bolted directly into, thus carrying the vibration of the string into the guitar. The F-holes on these instruments are largely ornamental, and can cause undesirable feedback in live situations. Some of these guitars now come with a top that has no holes in it for this reason.
