Guitar Tip: Chicken Pickin´

Here’s a riff that forms the basis for many country guitar licks, otherwise known as “Chicken Pickin.’” It’s known as a “Flat Riff.” The Tab I have included here has the riff beginning on a G note, i.e. key of G. The first note is a full quarter note; all of the rest are eight notes.
G—------------------0
D—-----------0-2-0
A—----0-1-2
E—3--

To carry it further you can add the next octave…
E—-----------------3
B—----------3-5-3
G—0-2-3-4

Pick every note and remember—hammer-ons and pull-offs are cheating!
